2nd Annual RAFET Meeting
The 2nd edition of the RAFET gathered 64 people in Ouagadougou, on the 28-29th September 2018.
During Day 1, the newcomers have been informed about what is RAFET and what were the outcomes/expectations from last year. Participants have been informed about the overall progress in each country regarding the elimination of trachoma, and also about some new fundings (Accelerate, ASCEND) regarding Trachoma and other NTDs. Some technical guidelines, related to Zithromax®, surgical audit and TT supervision, have been introduced, or highlighted.
Some technical /IT experiments (remote TT supervision in Cameroon, TT Tracker), have been also presented, and their pros and cons discussed. Different case finding strategies have been discussed as well, in order to match with the situation in each specific country.
During Day 2, participants have discussed more about transition: how to define it, fund it, and implement it. The experiences of countries such as Morocco, Ghana, Mali and Chad, have been shared. Then, the participants tried to identify the needs about capacity building (about the overall SAFE strategy).
