ITI is a program of The Task Force for Global Health.
Trachoma activities took place in Burkina Faso beginning in the 1960s. Baseline mapping occurred from 2007-2010. 2007 was Burkina Faso’s first year of antibiotic treatment, in three districts. In 2008, the program expanded to a further 7 districts. The most recent TAP occurred in 2013. A massive scale up in 2016 targeted the low prevalence districts in an effort to speed up the path to elimination.
In 2016, MDA occurred in 19 districts. In 2017, the program will have conduct impact surveys in these same districts in June. No antibiotic shipments were necessary in 2017.
