ITI is a program of The Task Force for Global Health.
Sixteen districts were mapped in Zimbabwe for trachoma prevalence using the Global Trachoma Mapping Project (GTMP) platform in 2014 and 2015. Out of the 16, 11 districts were found to be endemic for trachoma and in need of public health services to eliminate the disease.
In November 2016, the national program organized a Trachoma Action Plan (TAP) workshop and developed a budget for funding the full SAFE program. Partners in full SAFE implementation include the END Fund, Sightsavers, the Ministry of Environment, Water & Climate, UNICEF, and ITI.
